Breakfast

(ver: 23-Aug-2007)

An important task for your team will is bringing an occasional breakfast to the Monday class lectures. Consult the schedule to see when your team is responsible.

To meet this obligation, on the appointed days your team will cheerfully provide the following goods and services:

  1. Breakfast goodies to feed the class. Coffee (with cream/sugar), juice, and whatever "hard goods" (bagels, muffins, fruit,….your choice) strikes our fancy. (Notes: (1) Caribou Coffee (and many other coffee shops) sells "coffee in a box" for a crowd. (2) Estimate quantity of food and drink by seeing how much people consumed the week before. (3) Variety is good. (4) Be reasonable with expenses; we are trying to be economical.)
  2. Cups for juice and coffee, something to stir the coffee, and plenty of napkins.
  3. Goodies to arrive by 7:45 AM so that class isn't disturbed by the breakfast delivery.
  4. Goodies to be laid out in an appealing way. (In other words, a closed paper bag of bagels is not particularly inviting)
  5. Cleanup service after class, both student desks and food area. The classroom will look the same as when we arrived.

In carrying out your breakfast duties, keep the following in mind.

  1. Total cost for breakfast should not exceed $60. This limit pretty much eliminates the option of using University or outside catering services. Being frugal (without disappointing class members) is encouraged. Costco and Sam's Club are inexpensive options.
  2. Be inventive. 20 weeks of bagels may get tiresome.

Reimbursement for the class lecture breakfasts is through the course reimbursement procedure. Make sure that this expense is charged to the course budget and not to your team discretionary fund or to the company.
